Today Oliver got his last two stitches out of his lip. The others were dissolving stitches that have been gone for a few days. His stint is in until May 20, and we're looking forward to having that out. Now that the stitches are gone, he looks less like he had surgery and more like he accidentally stuck something up his nose. We're already used to "looks" from people. Most have been good about mentioning it so we have the chance to explain what happened. Fortunately he never had to wear the "no-no's". The first day he tried to rub his face a few times, but once he realized it hurt, he left it alone. Thumb sucking seems to be a thing of the past. Now he falls asleep without it. I think that was the biggest sleep interrupter at the beginning, just getting used to self-soothing.
Here he is right after we got home after surgery. He was still a little out of it from anesthesia, but he insisted on playing awhile.
