Is there ever a time you're glad your children disobeyed you? I've got one...
Oliver woke up early from his nap today, and I decided to go ahead and take all three of the kids grocery shopping with me. Usually I make evey effort to go alone. It's just easier that way. You understand. We went to Wal-Mart, and it went off without (much of) a hitch. Then on to Brookshires to get a few other things. The girls talked me into getting one of those HUGE carts with the double seat attached so that all three of them could ride in the cart. Besides Evie pinching her finger in the seat belt, Brookshires went off without a hitch, too.
We get outside and get gorceries loaded. I buckle Oliver in his seat and tell the girls (repeatedly) to buckle themselves in. I reach over the front seat and start the car. Then I get out of the back seat of the Suburban and shut the door. I try to open the front door to get in and it's LOCKED! Somewhere along the way I must have hit the lock button on the keyless entry remote!
My mind starts racing, and it only calms down a minute when I rememered that the car was at least running in the 90+ degree heat. Of course, as Murphy's Law goes, my cell phone is in the diaper bag, which is also in the car. Ugh. I stop a sweet lady who lets me use her cell to call John, who doesn't answer his work phone. Figures. He's been uber busy lately and can harldy answer the phone ever. Let alone when I really NEED it! The sweet lady comments that the kids seem okay with being locked in the car. And that's when I notice that Evie's up bouncing around in the car! She hadn't buckled herself into her car seat despite being told several times to do so! If she had, like I assumed, she wouldn't have been able to get out and unlock the car. The "unbuckle" button on her seat is hard to push, even for an adult. Talk about being embarassed but sooooo relieved. John would have never let me live it down!!! He still might not...

OH Tara! Talk about bringing back memories :) That's probably the most horrible feeling in the WORLD that I have experienced so far! I'm so glad Evie was able to save the day and that everyone is ok! :)
Glad it turned out ok. That can happen to anyone, Tara.
Can we apply "all things work together for good" LOL!
