Fun School Stuff (April 2012)

We've hit that end-of-the-school-year busy-ness. Everybody's got field trips, assemblies, parties, and all kinds of things to be at and do. It's fun, but it's exhausting, too.

Here are some of the things we've done just this week:

Evie's class is learning about insects. She was supposed to build a bug as a project. She could either build a model of an existing bug or make up an imaginary one. She chose the latter. Here is Suzy the Vampire Bug

For Arbor Day, the City of Greenville held a poster contest for all the schools in town. (The five public elementary schools, the charter school, and the Christian school) The children were supposed to represent how trees can be useful. A winning poster was chosen for each grade in each school. Maggie's poster was chosen out of all the kindergarten classes in Lamar Elementary! She got to go to an assembly at Lamar and was given an Arbor Day t-shirt. Then I took her to a ceremony for all the schools, and she got to shake hands with the mayor and get a blue ribbon for winning. Pretty cool!

The six winners from Lamar! (And, yes, Maggie is really that tiny. Really.)

Maggie's class went on two field trips this week: one to the huge playground in town and one to the planetarium at Texas A&M: Commerce.

Oliver's pre-k class took a tour of Chick-fil-A. Oliver (and Mama) got to ride the small church bus, go in the kitchen of Chick-fil-A, and watch them prepare food. It was pretty neat and very, very clean. I was impressed! (And hungry after the tour!! We did stay for lunch.)

All this has been on top of t-ball/softball games and practices nearly every evening. Worn out yet?? I am!!
