Last week we went with a group from church to Bass Pro in Mesquite where they have a Santa the kids can visit. The girls were excited until we started getting closer to him. They were pretty apprehensive, but were good sports and got their photo taken with him. Oliver was not happy with the situation in the slightest. Notice his expressions in each picture. Poor boy. Santa didn't look too thrilled in the last photo, either. Wonder if that was the first baby who drooled and cried all over his hand. Probably not. Good thing we already had the swine flu! Anyway, Santa asked the girls what they wanted for Christmas. They froze up and both muttered "a doll". Nothing like the typical, extensive, crazy list they come up with for us!
For Evie's birthday on the 15th, the five of us went to the Gaylord Texan to check out the Christmas decorations and the "Ice" exhibit they have every year. Lots of neat stuff to see: trains everywhere, a giant gingerbread house, tons of Christmas trees, and anything else you can imagine.
Here are the giant parkas they give you to wear into Ice. We had these on over our heavy winter coats. It's 9 degrees where the ice sculptures are. Yeah. Even though we felt like a scene out of "A Christmas Story" we were glad to have those parkas on by the end!
This year's theme was:
Everything was carved out of ice.
Even this slide!
Beautiful, enormous nativity scene:
Maggie and Evie each had Christmas programs this week at their preschool. They both had speaking parts and sang Christmas songs with their classmates. Absolutely adorable. Daddy had to be in California on a business trip, so Mema came to watch them. Of course I taped it for Daddy to watch when he got back. Nana made the dresses.
Evie was a reindeer in her play.

Wow - it looks like you guys are truly celebrating! The ice sculptures look like a lot of fun. Great pictures - thanks so much!
Evie and Maggie were adorable. They love their bubble dresses. Round and round they would go. Mema sure enjoyed the short visit. Love ya
Thanks, Tara. I bet Oliver wasn't the first crying little kid that Santa saw that day.
Those ice sculptures are amazing! What a fun adventure! And love those beautiful dresses, too. :)
I really want to go see the ice sculptures sometime! Looks like you guys had a blast. We were sad to miss the Christmas program at Wesley. I REALLY miss you guys -- hope you have a very Merry Christmas and that everyone stays well for you! :) The dresses turned out beautiful :) Love you guys!
