John worked a lot over the summer, so for Labor Day weekend, we thought it would be nice to go on a little mini trip to Tyler, TX. We've heard there's quite a bit to do there, but we've never been. It's the opposite direction from Dallas, and it's a tad farther, so we never made the effort. Until now. It's a great little town. Well, actually, it's a pretty good sized town, but it's still great. Lots to do. We didn't even scratch the surface, so we'll be heading back sometime.
Taking a break in Mineola, TX
(They have an adorable downtown)
At the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler.
The African habitat was one of our favorite parts of the zoo. You can get a nearly panoramic view of giraffes, elephants, and zebras. We spent a lot of time here.
Another cool part of the zoo was the aviary. Each of us got a chance to feed the parakeets. Look at how loaded that tree is!
At a park enjoying the cooler weather.
The Tyler Rose Garden was beautiful. Apparently it's not the season to see tons of roses in bloom, but we still enjoyed it. Definitely worth free!
Before heading home, we stopped at a sprinkler park for the kids. Always a big hit.

Looks like a great time!
Aw, that looks like a lot of fun! Glad you guys were able to go explore there. Next stop, Colorado! :)
Fun times...I want: the animal face water fountains, the red truck and one of those cute dresses that the girls are wearing :).
