We've Been Halloweenin'

I don't know about you, but it lately it seems like the holidays are marathon events. Not just one day of fun, but a week or so of 'stuff'. Maybe I'm a grump. Maybe it's because I'm the mom and I have to do all the work to make sure everyone's where they're supposed to be with all the snacks/candy/treats they're supposed to have. Maybe it's because we have three little kids who all have parties and such to go to. Whatever it is, Halloween has been more than one night of pumpkin carving with the family and one night of trick-or-treating with friends. (That's how I remember it... Is it just me??) It's fun, though, in the end. Lots of pictures of our little cuties and lots of memories.

We started with a trip to the pumpkin patch with Oliver's pre-k class.

(I feel like I need to tell you... Don't be concerned with Oliver's grimace in the pics. It's his "smile". Really, he's happy.)

He LOVED the truck. Can you blame him?? Pretty cool!

He had a Halloween party, too. This is the only pic I got of it. He didn't want to join in on the games and fun, but he enjoyed the snack!

Maggie's kindergarten class visited another pumkpin patch. Oliver and I joined them.

I was responsible for snacks at a couple of events. Anyone up for mummy pizzas or severed fingers?

Of course we had to gut and carve our pumpkins. Three of them. Evie hates the pumpkin insides...

...but she was all about the carving.

Here's the end result!

(John's "original" design this year is a little creepy... It's the symbol for one of the planes he works on. See the plane in there??)

Then for the best part: Dressing up!!

A friend planned a Halloween carnival for the kids complete with a dart game (behind them...),

a bean bag toss,

and a mummy wrap.

Aaaaaaand finally... TRICK-OR-TREATING!!

We went with some good friends, but it wasn't quite the same without the Urlachers. *sniff, sniff*

(Okay, so I must have blinked, because Maggie's not just our 'cute, little Maggie' any more. Is it just me, or is she tunring into a knockout?!? Such a pretty little face.)

Fun stuff, Tara. Yeah, you just remember the kids' part of it. Your momma put alot of work into the school party stuff and the treats for each of you at Halloween and other parties. She went to your classes and decorating after school was out then found time to make goodies. Alot of busy stuff at the time, but things she cherishes as good memories now.

P.S.: yeah, holidays are marathon events. Too many places to be at the same time. It's hard when you have chilluns and jobs. Yeah, staying at home with the kids is a job. ;)

Lots of fun! I agree - all the holidays do seem like marathons :) So much fun, but sooo busy - all the parties alone are enough to make you poke your eyes out!

We missed you guys last night! We kept saying that you guys need to come up here next year for Halloween - I mean it. They take Trick-or-Treating seriously here. We went to a nice neighborhood right next to ours that handed out FULL SIZED CANDY BARS!!! :) Not everyone did, but still... and lots of chocolate. That's my favorite part. We forgot to buy pumpkins to put their candy in, so we just had tiny lunch bags to use. If we would have been better prepared, we could have made a huge haul! :)

Anyway. I'll quit hijacking your blog here and get off now. Thanks for sharing all the pictures - such adorable kids - every one of 'em!
