Evie had her 4-year-old well child check up this morning. She's in great health. She was excited for Renea (the nurse practitioner) to examine her, and she cooperated really well. She knew ahead of time that she might need to get a shot, and she took the news like a big girl. Evie got a whopping FOUR shots without even flinching. Maggie got a flu shot, too, and didn't blink an eye. What brave girls! The only person crying when we walked out of the office was Oliver, and they didn't lay a hand on him. We'll give him a break since he's only 5 months old. Evie shouldn't have to get any more shots until she's 12, not counting flu shots. If I get into the doctor's office early in the flu season, I can get them the inhaled vaccine instead of the injection. They ran out this year, so the girls had to get shots for the flu vaccine. I'll take them in in October this year and spare them the stick.
Evie is still a tiny little thing. 31 pounds and 38.75 inches tall. That's 15th percentile for weight and 25th for height. I wouldn't have expected anything different since that's where she's been her whole life. The nurses checked her hearing, which was perfect, and her vision. They are a little concerned with one of her eyes, so we have to go see a pediatric ophthamologist in Dallas next week to check her for strabismus. That's a fancy way of saying "lazy eye". Renea said that it may be nothing, or Evie may have to wear glasses for a couple of years to fix it. We'll find out on Tuesday. Oliver has an appointment with Dr. Genecov that day, too, so it will be a "fun" day. John's planning on going, so maybe we can squeeze in something truly fun.
Oliver is "calling" me. Better go see what he needs.
