Last night we went to a Texas Rangers ball game with the kids and some of John's friends from work. It was a really late night for us, but it was a blast! It's only the second Rangers game we've been to. The last one was when I was pregnant with Maggie.
We started out at a British pub called Sherlock's. They had lots of British-type food that looked pretty good. A few people we were with got yummy-looking burgers. John got tacos, and the girls got a quesadilla. Guess they had to "texas-ize" the menu. :) I had a chicken pot pie that was good. If it wasn't for the place actually being a pub, we would probably go back more. Evie told me several times that it "smelled funny." After eating, we rode a bus to the ball park. The girls were super-excited and couldn't contain themselves. We could have taken the bus right back to our car and gone home, and they would have been happy! I asked Evie why she was so excited about it, and she said, "We all get to ride together, right next to each other! Our whole family, and some of our friends!" They're so used to having to ride in their car seats, so riding on a normal seat is neat.
We finally got to our seats after a pit-stop with the girls. (Those aren't short stops.) The weather was amazing, and the sky was clear as can be. As much as John and I enjoy sports, the girls don't really watch any. So, unfortunately the girls didn't really know what was going on. Evie could never find the ball. Maggie saw it several times and would get excited. We tried to get them to watch the batters, but they got bored between hits and never actually saw someone hit the ball. There were several homeruns, and afterward they would shoot off some fireworks. After the first one, people were screaming, fireworks went off, and Evie said she wanted to go home. Heehee. A little later, some guy behind us started chanting "Let's go, Rangers!" over and over. Evie had a look like, "What in the world???" We need to get these kids out more! Once Daddy bought some drinks and peanuts, everyone perked up even more. At first John was shelling the nuts and giving them to the girls to eat. Then he gave each of them their own to open. Maggie worked at hers for awhile. Neither of us were watching her. I noticed that she was chewing on something weird and figured out that she had put the peanut shell in her mouth! Mmmmmm. We got the nut out of the shell, and she enjoyed it much more. Their favorite part was the dot race. It was pretty funny, and Evie was excited that the red dot dove over the finish line to win. The blue dot tripped over the red one, and Maggie was still talking about that this morning. To top off the night, John bought the girls big bowls of ice cream to share with us. When they got back from the concession stand, Maggie plopped her bowl right between her legs and started chowing down. Daddy reminded her that she was supposed to be sharing with Mama. She gave me a little bite, then continued shoveling it in. She had quite the chocolate goatee!
We left right as the ninth inning was starting at around 10pm. All three kids did great and had a good time. I'm hoping to do that again in the near future! Maybe we can teach the girls a little more about baseball now that they're been to a real game and they can actually figure out what's going on!

T-ball starts at age 5 here in Jersey, when does it start there? Is Evie going to play?
I have a mental image of the kids lined up on the bench chewing/eating/spitting peanuts with shells:).
Have a super gr8 1!
Sounds like you all had a great time. Best part of a game is the snacks. LOL. I keep wanting to stop at a Redhawks game after work some nite. It sounds like a great idea at 6 am. Doesn't sound so great an idea at 6 pm.
Love yuns.
