Sea World, San Antonio

Um, yes, we're CRAZY to take two little kids and a 34-week-pregnant lady to super-hot San Antonio for a weekend. It was fun, though. The 4-ish hour car trip was worse for me than walking in the hot sun for two days. A club that John's a member of through his work offered an awesome hotel rate in San Antonio, and we also got discount Sea World tickets through them. We thought it would be a good "final fling" before we have three kids. We were right!

Here are Evie, Maggie, & me checking out the sea lions. John fed them fish, which was pretty neat. Evie didn't want to give that a try. You can also kind of see my huge Oliver belly. After looking at the pictures, I really can't believe I survived the trip with that thing hanging off the front of me! Yeah, I definitely waddled like the pengiuns we saw.

John fed the lorikeets, too. The girls were pretty freaked out by the birds flying all around them. We kept telling them they are nice, while at the same time John was being bitten by one! Luckily, neither Evie nor Maggie were pooped on or landed on. Otherwise, I think they would have gone haywire.

Of course we enjoyed the shows. The Shamu show, the dolphin/beluga whale show, the sea lion/otter show, the water skiing show, the rescued animals show (with adopted dogs, cats, birds, and such). They were neat and a good way to take a load off and get a break from the heat. Johnny even squeezed in a ride on one of the awesome roller coasters. There were also plenty of animal exhibits to see. John's fave is always the penguins. The girls liked the dolphins. At the very end of our visit, we decided to cool off at the water park. We waited in line for a half hour to get in, went around the lazy river once, and were told that, due to lightening, they were closing the water park. Phooey. Oh, well. At least when we got sprinkled on, we weren't worried about getting wet. And for the first time that weekend, when the wind blew, Evie complained about being COLD.
Just a couple of cute pics to finish off the entry. Evie took the one of John, Maggie, & me. The other is of the girls playing at Sea World. It was a blast! Too bad it was over too soon.
