We'll Miss You, Smokey.

We had to have our sweet cat, Smokey, put to sleep today. She had feline leukemia, and she had been pretty sick for the last few weeks. It was pretty rough on me. We've had her for nine years, and she was easliy one of the best cats I've ever had. She was really loveable. (Sometimes too much so! She has been known to knead holes in jeans!) She was great with the kids. There aren't many cats who would let little tiny hands near them, let alone actually welcome them. Our other cat, Gizmo, is very sweet, too, but she's a little more neurotic. Smokey was awesome. I'm so thankful she isn't hurting any more, but I hate that she had to go through it in the first place. And I hate that we had to make a decision to put her to sleep. Nothing rips your heart out more than seeing your husband take your cat away and know you'll never see her again. Hope you're enjoying kitty heaven, Smokey. We'll sure miss you.

So sweet... I am so sorry, Tara. I hope you can enjoy your vacation this week and not let this bog you down. Smokey was such a friendly cat, and so tolerant of the kids! :) How are the kids doing?

Dunno if you noticed or not, but your Grandmother has a kitten that's the same coloring as Smokey. Since those cats are so wild, I don't believe it will be as lovable as Smokey. But if you get it young enough, it might tame down some.
