Evie ended up having a great day yesterday. She woke up really congested, coughing, and grumpy. I was bummed because I thought she would have a cruddy birthday. I gave her some Sudafed, had her do her breathing treatment for the asthma, and made her mini pancakes, and she perked right up. :) We went to the library, even though there was freezing rain, and the girls had a blast doing puppet shows and picking out new books to take home. We came home and played a game three times. Evie won twice! :) Before we started the game, Evie said "I think I need to go first, since I'm about to turn FIVE." Then she went and stood up against the doorway on her tiptoes and said, "Mama, I think I grew from top to toe!" When Daddy got home, Evie opened a few gifts, and after supper, we had a chocolate cake with icing balloons and sprinkles. Evie got lots of phone calls, internet messages and emails, and a couple of birthday cards in the mail. She was so happy all day. :) Last night she said a prayer that included thanking God for Daddy, Mama, Oliver, Maggie, all the people who called her, all her presents, her library books, and "Thank you for the happy birthday, God. I hope you have one, too." Sweet girl. The only thing...She really is stoked about almost turning five. Again this morning she told me that she's "so excited that's she's about to turn five". Slow down, Girl! Mama's just adjusting to having a four-year-old! *sigh*

I took Oliver in for his four month well baby check up today. He's doing great. The nurses and nurse practitioner were really impressed with his lip. (These are the ones at the kids' regular pediatrician's office, so they hadn't seen him since his surgery.) The nurse pratitioner said he is extremely alert for his age. She kept commenting on how much he was reaching toward Maggie and how active and squirmy he is. He weighed in at 15 pounds and 27 inches tall. He's in the 30th percentile for weight and 90th for height. I've been noticing lately that he's seeming tall and lanky. Not my little chubba bubba anymore. Maybe when I start him on solids he'll bulk up again. :) Either way, he's healthy and handsome. He got three shots, which ticked him off for quite awhile. I think he knows what to expect when he's laying on an examining table with a doctor-type in his face. He knows it's not going to be good, bless his heart. Maggie was with me, and she was very concerned with making Oliver happy after his shots. She sang to him to calm him down. Adorable. :)

What a sweet big sis! I'm glad Evie had such a special day! Brooklynn is knocking on the door of 18 pounds now!! But only about 26-27 inches! Ha! She's always been at the 50th percentile but who knows for her 6 month check up! She's really been growing lately! We are so excited to see you guys soon!
