On our way to a costume birthday party for their friend, Ben. (Oliver's shirt says "This is my costume". Clever, huh?)
At Ben's birthday party, each of the kids got glow sticks to take home. I honestly didn't think it would be a problem for my girls to have some. Shows how well I know my daughter. :) We were leaving the party, and I was buckling Evie and Maggie into their car seats when I noticed Maggie chewing on her stick. Most moms would take it away at that point. I just told her to stop, and she did. At least for the moment. As we were driving down the interstate in the dark, I heard her voice from the very back of the Suburban, "Mama, it's spicy!" Immediately, I knew what she was talking about. All I could think was "Oh, crap!!" and I'm fairly certain I started swerving around the road at 70mph trying to pull over. Luckily John was able to climb back and check her out. I could hear in his voice that he's trying not to freak out and trying not to laugh at the same time. Since it was pitch black in the car, he could see green glowing stuff all over her face, hands, legs, and coat, which allowed him to clean it up pretty easily. Looking back, I wish we had a picture of her. Musta been amusing in it's own way. I couldn't see her since I was driving, and it's probably a good thing. Fortunately, we could tell that almost all of the glowing goop was still in the glow stick. I think her slobber just made the little bit she got out spread around. I never noticed a green glowing poop in her diaper the next day, although I don't change poopies in the dark. She's just fine, but it shows how Little Miss Redhead keeps us on our toes.
Maggie decided to "help" Daddy make biscuits.
